AOTM Toy Drive

Angels on the Move has historically held an annual holiday gift campaign. Toys, clothes and necessities are provided to children in the community. Angels on the Move organizes local families each year who work together to gather gifts which are then donated to children in need. The holidays are often difficult for underprivileged families and can be especially difficult for the children of those families. Angels on the Move provides a spot of joy and happiness during the holidays.  Past recipients of our toy drive campaign include Orangewood Children's Home, Laura's House and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  If you have any recommendations for donation locations please let us know!

The 2021 scholarship application is now live!

Congratulations to 2020's scholarship recipients: 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐚𝐜 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐡 and 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐚! This year we had so many deserving scholarship applicants that we couldn’t choose just one ✨⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣
𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐚𝐜 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐡 grew up in a small village in Sierra Leone and now lives in New York. He left home at the age of 17 after most of his family died due to the Ebola outbreak. When he first came to the US, he had $35 and a duffle. He started a non-profit called “Girl Optimization” which provides girls and women in Sierra Leone with access to education, health care, and decent work. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
After losing his Temporary Protected Status in 2016, Isaac was forced to leave Eastern University. He began the difficult road to becoming a permanent resident, which he accomplished in January 2020. In July 2019 he was appointed as the first Permanent Youth Representative of Sierra Leone of the United Nations and plans to go back to college this Fall.⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Isaac has faced more adversity than we could ever imagine. He faced that adversity head on, overcame it, and has managed to still give back and do good in the world despite the difficult cards life has dealt him. We are proud to welcome Isaac to the AOTM Family, and cannot wait to see what amazing things he will continue to accomplish!⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐚 grew up in Uzbekistan and now lives in New York. Where she grew up, it was expected that girls marry by the age of 16, with access to education being of little importance. When she came to the US, she realized women could be doctors and engineers, something she had never dreamed of. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Anisa is a junior in high school and plans to give back by researching multidrug resistant tuberculosis, and pursuing a career as a @cdcgov or @who microbiologist and Infectious Disease Specialist. She will be embarking on biochemistry research this fall at NYU. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Anisa has larger than life goals, and an actionable plan to achieve them. At such a young age, she has already overcome and accomplished so much. We are thrilled to welcome Anisa to the AOTM family, and cannot wait to see all the good she does in the world!

Toy Drive
While our toy drive may look a little different this year, we are still excited to give back to the kids of Orange County. After vetting various organizations, we will be donating to CASA OC, The Priority Center and Orangewood Foundation.

While we will not have our yearly "toy raiser" event, we will still be collecting donations via PayPal or can conduct "no contact" pickups of toys in the Orange County area. All toy donations will need to be arranged for pickup by December 15, 2020. Follow us on social media for updates!
