About Angels on the Move
Angels on the Move (AOTM) was established in 2004 by Founder & CEO Jillian Madrid who at the time was 12 years old. At an early age Jillian recognized the need to help children in the surrounding community and took action. AOTM started with a book drive which helped build Orangewood Children's Home Library. It grew over time to include an annual toy drive and an annual scholarship. When Jillian left for college at the University of Southern California, her vision was carried on by her sister Madison Madrid, the current President. Angels on the Move was created with the vision of making a difference in lives of children.
Angels on the Move was founded on the concept of kids helping kids. As its founders have grown, our mission has evolved as well. We aim to expand our impact from Orange County to people in need around the world. 1% of our donations go to our operations, since we are a grassroots organization with minimal overhead. The majority of our proceeds goes directly to toys and our scholarship program. We rebranded to mirror our growth as individuals, and refocus on issues that we have seen in our society. There are a vast amount of charities that help with survival and the fundamentals. Our goal is to not just provide the basics, but to help people thrive and improve their quality of life. We seek to bridge the gap between merely surviving and truly thriving.
As Madison and Jillian moved on from college to post-graduate life, they decided it was time for a change. They needed to realign the mission of AOTM with their passions as adults. The motto of AOTM has changed from “kids helping kids” to “for those in need.” We now provide a vehicle to allow local families to get involved in their communities and provide all with a better quality of life. Madison and Jillian continue to grow Angels on the Move.
Angels on the Move is operated 100% through volunteerism and charitable contributions. We have been featured in the Orange County Register (formerly Angels in Motion) and Jillian Madrid has been written up as one of Orange County’s Top Ten Heroes in OC Family Magazine as well as being recognized as one of the Nestle Corporation’s Very Best In Youth award recipients. We have supported many charitable foundations over the years to benefit kids ranging in age from infants to teens. Although Angels On The Move is a grass roots 501(c)(3) which is extremely small in nature, we believe families have the power to make a difference in their community and Angels on the Move allows them to do so by delivering smiles to those in need.
